Mini Monday: That Summer by Sarah Dessen

That Summer by Sarah Dessen
4/5 stars

This book was just sooooo adorable!  I knew I'd get into it and not be able to put it down...and I was right, of course.  It's Sarah Dessen, which means I devoured the pages in two, one hour sittings.

I loved Haven, and I really enjoyed reading about her family.  To be honest, I am most like her sister  I was surprised at how many ways I could relate to her.  She was a little more extreme in some ways, but she is definitely my bent.  I loved how even though she made mistakes, she had her strengths, too, and everyone still loved her.  (Yay me! Haha)

Sumner was my favorite character, because he was so complex.  So many layers went into his character and how he changed and what he did and who he was.  He was just...great.  He lifted my spirits and also reminded me that no one is perfect.

Really, this is such a great, quick read.  Anyone who is looking for an easy book with a tiny side romance (not what you think) and good lessons to learn - read this book! :)

This book reminds me of...
My sister, whose name is Haven
First love
Individuals, and what makes us different from each other
Getting to really know people
Good laughs

Content level -
Ages 15+ for some brief, strong language (GD, B)

The more things change...
As far as Haven is concerned, there's just too much going on.
Everything is changing, and she's not sure where she fits in.
Then her sister's old boyfriend shows up, sparking memories of the summer when they were all happy and everything was perfect...
But along the way, Haven realizes that sometimes change is a good thing.
