Top Ten Tuesday: Words/Topics That Instantly Grab Me

This amazing meme is brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish. ;)

I really love this theme.  A lot.  As always.  Because this meme is flipping awesome.  These are in no particular order, btw.

1.  Love.  I'm a hopeless romantic, so anything with love in it, and I'm in.  It may actually be an illness.  I guess we'll never know...

2.  Myths.  Particularly the Greek ones.  I also love Roman, Egyptian, Indian, etc.

3.  Time/Space travel.  I put these in the same category because I kind of associate them through Doctor Who.  And because, a lot of the time, they do go together.  And they're AMAZING.  Such as Norris's Unraveling and Oppels's Starclimber and Cross's Tempest just blow me away with awesomeness.

4.  Fairy Tales.  TAKE ME WITH YOU!  If there's a fairy tale around, I want to be the first in line to meet it, shake its hand, and quite possibly kidnap it and keep it forever.  Totes creepy.

5.  Jennifer E. Smith.  I know, that's an extremely biased answer.  But it's the TRUTH.

6.  Other Worlds.  Liiiike N. D. Wilson or Cornelia Funke would write - an ordinary character is dropped into an extraordinary world.  Or even, in its own way, Norris's Unraveling!  Or Caitlin Rubino-Bradway's Ordinary Magic, to which I am eternally indebted to for making me laugh so freaking hard.

7.  Assassins.  Since Throne of Glass and The Assassin's Curse, it's become a new turn-on for me.  I'm so down for anything assassin-y.

8.  Aliens.  Ahhhh!  My nerd is showing!  HA!  But for real...aliens rock my socks!  That's why I can't wait to read Obsidian...someday.  It's also why I loved The Host SO DANG MUCH even though I'm a Twi-Hater.  And then there's I Am Number Four, which made me cry it was so beautiful.  I also love the goofy stuff on Star Wars and Star Trek and, most importantly, DOCTOR WHO.  Anything like that and I'll read it and love it forever.

9.  Classics.  That's right.  I'm a huuuuge classics fan.  Dostoevsky is my favorite, but Dickens, Dumas, Sabatini, and Bronte follow close behind.  I own the majority of the B&N classics collection...or at least half.

10.  Tragedy.  Yup, you heard me.  I'm in it for the deep stuff, the sad stuff, the utterly and completely DEPRESSING stuff.  Give me The Iliad any day.  I'll read The Trojan Women and weep.  Anything that's just SO SAD like The Princetta or The Deathly Hallows or The Mark of the Lion trilogy.  I'll cry and cry and cry and then rave about how much I loved it.  The Idiot, to this day my favorite tragedy, is also in my top 5 favorite books ever.  Again with the Dosteovsky.

Bout of Books 7.0 - I'm in! :)

Bout of Books

All right, everyone!  I'm super stoked about this!  I'm joining the Bout of Books 7.0 read-a-thon! :)

Here's what it's all about:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 7.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

Basically I'm super excited about it.

I know that that's the last week I have school - I'm done on the 15th.  I can work ahead in one class, which I will do, and the other should be easy peasy.  I don't know what I'm going to set for goals that week, or how many books I realistically will finish.  On a good week I can read 2 books...so I'm hoping 3 or 4?  I'll let you all know once we're closer.

But basically I'm soooo excited!!  Come join the fun!! :)

Wishlist Wednesday #10 - Luminous

This is a weekly meme hosted by Pen to Paper!

As reality slips and time stands still, Consuela finds herself thrust into the world of the Flow. Removed from all she loves into this shifting world overlapping our own, Consuela quickly discovers she has the power to step out of her earthly skin and cloak herself in new ones—skins made from the world around her, crafted from water, fire, air. She is joined by other teens with extraordinary abilities, bound together to safeguard a world they can affect, but where they no longer belong.

When murder threatens to undo the Flow, the Watcher charges Consuela and elusive, attractive V to stop the killer. But the psychopath who threatens her new world may also hold the only key to Consuela’s way home.

I can't even handle how gorgeous this cover is.  I saw it and knew immediately that Luminous had to be mine.  And that was, like, 2 years ago.  And I STILL haven't bought it.  This needs to change soooon!  It sounds amazing and mind-boggling and I want to be seen with this book. ;)  I heard some not-so-great things about it, but also some awesome things, and I'm willing to give it a go!
Side note:  I checked Amazon and B&N just now - they're not even selling it!! It doesn't say out of stock or anything - it just doesn't have it except for through other sellers.  SO SAD.  I'll have to fix my library up really soon with one of those unwanted copies. :(

Released:  June 30th, 2011

What are YOU wishing for this Wednesday?

Well hello there...

Well hello there, lovely but extremely neglected blog.

I still love you.  I really really realllly love you.

But as you can see I'm on a break.  I just need one.  Really badly.  Personal things.

(What I'm not trying to say is that I haven't had time for you...because that would be mean, right?)

I love you, YtR.  You're too cool for school, you know that?  And that's exactly why I haven't been able to approach you.

But soon school's over.  And then fun starts.

I promise I'll be back soon.  I have lots of surprises coming, for you and for my readers.

And also some big announcements.  Some maybes and what ifs.  Personal things, like I said.

For now... just know that Ems @ In Which Ems Reviews Books and I have some loooovely things in store for you this summer! Just lovely! :) <3 p="">
Until Monday...
