Friday Buys 6/33-29/12

Such a fun buying week! :D

Dark Companion by Marta Acosta
Thank you thank you thank you Tor Teen!! :D  I requested this a while ago and when I found this on my front porch (after hearing the mailman leave and thinking, Oh dear, he didn't come to the door...  but he did! He did!).  Anyways.  When I found this, I was giggling for like, a half hour!! SO awesome! :D  Reading it soon, for sure. :D

Stories by Washington Irving  -  $2
'60's vintage paperback - to die for!

The Voyage Out by Virginia Woolf - $2
About time I read some of Miss Woolf's stories!  :D  Can't wait!

City of Masks by Mary Hoffman - $2
Is this not the most gorgeous cover you've ever ever seen?!?!?!  I'm in love, and can't wait to devour this!! :D

Some swag from the adorable Miss Howard, author of the upcoming novel Splintered! :D

Jane Eyre for $.50
Another copy to cut up and put on my wall...

The Iliad by Homer - $.50
Awesome vintage paperback! :D

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers - $5
BRAND NEW!  And I loved this book, so it was well worth it.  It's the kind of book that you love so much that you don't put it down the entire time, except maybe to throw it against the wall or kiss it - or attempt to do both at the same time.  You all know those kinds of books...sometimes, they're the best. ;)

John Adams by David McCullough - $.50
Yeah, you read right. FIFTY CENTS.  And this baby is EXTREMELY long.  And I'm SO excited to read it!!! :D  EEEEEK!

It was, indeed, a pretty week. :D  $12 is definitely worth these paper wonders! :D

Happy reading, my friends!!  Enjoy enjoy enjoy! :D

  2. Stravaganza! Love that series! Though I only just recently realized there are two more books in it that I haven't read...

So, what's the deal with cutting up Jane Eyre to put on your wall?

Well, since I absolutely adore Jane Eyre beyond reason, I'm going to paste my wall with pages from the book...and others such as "The Idiot" and "Dracula". :D

  7. Hehe I'm with Jenny now, staring longingly at my front porch! x) I requested Dark Companion a long time ago too and I'm so excited for it to come.  But until then, you can bet I'll be looking forward to reading your review! And I love how you have Jane Eyre on here too -- I've always been meaning to read it, but classics aren't priorities on my huge TBR haha :')

I hope you enjoy all of your beautiful books and have a wonderful Canada Day weekend! <3

  8. Yay!! :D  I hope you get Dark Companion!

And OMG MIMI!!  You absolutely HAVE to read Jane Eyre.  It doesn't read like a classic...to me it reads like a gorgeous, lyrical (think Ally Condie in the 1800's) and PASSIONATE romance that sweeps you away!!  It's so strange and lovely....SIGH... :D

Happy Canada Day weekend to you too, darling! :D <3
