2012 TBR pile Reading Challenge - update

You know, that challenge.  The one I never post about.  Or even keep up with.  I'm so bad about it.

I've read a grand total of FOUR books for this challenge.  I signed up for Level #3, which requires I read at least 21 books from my 2011 and earlier TBR pile.  I'm only 1/7 of the way through and we are 1/2 through the year.

Things better start looking up.  Erm, I better stop getting books from the library and buying new books and reading those.  What's wrong with me?! ;)

So.  The four I've read so far:

Crossed by Ally Condie (Matched #2)
Beauty by Robin McKinley
Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor
Seeing Redd by Frank Beddor (Alyss #2)
(And I'm currently reading Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, which I've had for probably two years...it's amaaaazing!)

It's kind of crazy.  I need to get a move on.

Some that I want to read soon:
Witchlanders
Wildwood Dancing
The Blackhope Enigma
A Sudden, Fearful Death
Lock and Key
Geek Magnet
East
Fablehaven
Miss Spitfire

Do you see any that you've read/heard good things about?  Which would you recommend reading first?  There's a poll to your right that will allow you to vote!  Give me your thoughts! :D

Haaaaappy Reading!! :D

  1. Wildwood Dancing is really good, but might take a while to get through because of the pacing. Hope you get to it soon! I need to check out some of the other books on your list--they look good!

  2. Beauty is one of my favorite YAs ever!  I actually heard that the Emma Watson/Guillermo Del Toro BatB start out as an adaptation of that book.

Try Witchlanders next.  It was really good.  I've also heard great things about Fablehaven, too.

  4. Wow, good for you tackling Anna Karenina! I've always been intimidated by the sheer length of that one, but maybe I'll get to it one day. What did you think of Crossed? I really loved Matched and was a touch disappointed with Crossed, but I have high hopes for Reached!

  5. Ah...Juliet Marillier is a sweet pleasure indeed. I hope you get to Wildwood Dancing soon. It IS slow paced or slowerish. But I loved it. Enjoy enjoy! And I/7 isn't horrible...you can catch up. Ugh...crossed. Never did finish those.

  9. Oh yes...Crossed is BY FAR my favorite of the ones I've read, and it might be my favorite of all the books I've mentioned.  It's brilliant.  Condie's writing is...aaaaaaaahh!! AMAZING!!  Reached is going to be sooooo gooooood!

Ooohh Ok!  I've read 2 Sarah Dessen books and I really enjoyed them!  They're easy reads and that's what I need right now.  Thanks for your input, Mimi - and you're cheering! :D haha! <3

  10. Haha!  I absolutely LOVE Anna Karenina and can't recommend it enough.  (Although, comparatively, I'm a Dostoevsky fan all the way!)  I would have been done with it in a few weeks if I wasn't reading so many other things at the same time...

Bummer you didn't love Crossed as much!  I actually LOVED Crossed - more than Matched - you can read my review here: http://yearningtoread.blogspot.com/2012/01/review-crossed-by-ally-condie-matched-2.html
I'm dying to get my hands on Reached!  I can't wait to know what happens! :D

    Thanks for the comment, Jenny!

  11. My teen daughter just finished reading (and really enjoyed!) an eBook called Hear by Jacqueline Abelson. Great plot, interesting characters and a real message of self– empowerment. Here’s the link:
