Friday Buys 4/6-20/12

BOUGHT

Mr. Midshipman Hornblower by C. S. Forester (#1) - $3
I'm excited to read this one! (Someday...lol)  My bestie loves the movies and I've been trying to find the first one for less than $8...  And here it is for soooo cheap! :)  And in great condition, too!

Torn by Amanda Hocking (#2) - $3
I know, I know.  I haven't even begun to read the first one, but when I found the 2nd for this price and in SUCH good condition, I couldn't resist.  Self control, much?  Nah!

GIFTED

I don't know if I've said enough about my dearest friend Laura @ A Work of Fiction, but I know that you should all hop over to her blog ASAP and follow and comment.  Trust me, you'll fall head over heals for her and her blog.  She's amazing.
And guess what?  She bought me this book.  The reason?  Just because.  Apparently, I'm such a good friend that I deserve to get books from besties who are WAY cooler than 99% of the world's population.  It is things like this, actions like this, and people like Laura who make the world a better place.  Is she wonderful, or is she? ;)

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
I'M SO EXCITED!!  LOOK AT HOW PRETTY IT IS!!!

WON

I adored Austenland, the first book, and am SO EXCITED to have won this hardcover copy from Bloomsbury in the Goodreads First Reads giveaway program!

Midnight in Austenland by Shannon Hale

THE STASH

I really really really love the colors of this stash.  How they all go together but are all different.  Really random, I know, but that's just me. ;)

NETGALLEY

AAAAAAAHHH I LOVE LISA!!!  And therefore, I automatically love this book.  Period.  End of story.

What have YOU purchased/won/received/borrowed this week?  Or these last couple weeks?  Comment and leave me a link!! :D

  1. You haven't read Switched yet?? Oh my gosh, Sierra, you need to get on that ASAP! That first book was just so darn sweet, but Torn has to be my favourite so far, and you can bet I'm excited with the third book coming out next week! <3 And The Truth About Forever was one of the few Sarah Dessen books I read (and loved!) so I hope you do too! :)

You have a bunch of amazing books this week, Sierra! I can't wait to read all of your bound-to-be amazing thoughts! :) <3

  2. Oh, ikr?  It's so lame.  I want to so badly but I'm trying to get through that lame pile that is the library-due-back-soon pile and the library-i've-re-requested-a-billion-times pile.  Hahaha But SOOOON!! I  promise!! :D

    Thanks Mimi! :D <3

  3. Ooh! These look great! Where did you get your $3 purchases? I always like to hear of new places to shop. I just finished Midnight in Austenland last night and LOVED it! I haven't read Switched either, so you're not alone. I should be reading it soon. :) I just won a book this week called A Wedding Transpires on Mackinac Island by Cara Putman. It should be in the mail to me soon. Besides that, I'm reading Above by Leah Bobet from the library. I haven't read any books by Lisa T. Bergren. I may have to check her out since you like her so much.

  4. Dang, nice books. Don't worry about self control. You don't need it. I hope you read Switched soon. It's a good book! And you'll like her other stuff too I think.

  5. Thanks!  I go to my local friends of the library bookstore and paperback book exchange.  There are so many (probably 4 that I go to regularly) in the Escondido/Poway areas in San Diego.  If you live in SD or are ever visiting, shoot me an email and I'll send you the best places to go! ;)

OOOOHH I want to read "Above" soooo badly!!  And DEFINITELY check out Lisa Bergren.  She blows me away.  Apparently "Glamorous Illusions" was named top pick in the Romantic Times Magazine. :D  Makes me so happy!! :D

  6. I'm almost officially not taking any more review books so hopefully I finally get to read Lisa T Bergren's Waterfall series. Her new book looks tempting but I must resist on NetGalley ... It's been my weakness lately. :P

And wow, congrats on the Goodreads win. I can't remember the last time I ever won anything on there.

  7. Oh yay!!  Can't wait to hear what you think of them!  Oh, NetGalley seems to be my weakness plus every other blogger's weakness...  Maybe we should all go on a ban. haha
I know, I hardly ever win stuff through Goodreads, so it was fun to get this in the mail! :D

    Thanks for the comment!
