An Interview with Lisa T. Bergren

Well everyone - here it is!  The Interview you've all been waiting for!  Please give an applause for Lisa T. Bergren!

You can find Lisa at the following places:

Welcome, Lisa, to Yearning to Read!
To start off, can you give us five fun facts about yourself?
1. I'm not a morning person or night person. I'm a middle-of-the-day person.
2. I've been inside the Great Pyramid at Giza, Egypt.
3. I've been certified as a scuba diver.
4. I sleep with three pillows but really want four.
5. I've seen the Northern Lights.

What are five books you think everyone should read?
1. THE KITE RUNNER
2. THE HELP
3. HUNGER GAMES
4. THE BIBLE
5. WATERFALL :-) (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

How has writing and being published affected your life?
It's pretty much changed my whole world. It's my work and passion.

Who is your favorite character that you have created and why?
Daria from The Gifted Series (THE BEGOTTEN, THE BETRAYED, THE BLESSED). I loved that she had the gift of healing, but was on a journey to find healing herself.

You have done a lot of historical fiction - so how is it writing historical fiction with twinge of fantasy?  Do you like one more than the other?
What I LOVED about writing this series is that I always feel like I'm a time traveler when I write historicals. But to be able to have contemporary characters in historical times was so much FUN. So I think River of Time is my favorite.

Torrent is a very good close for a trilogy - but a good start for more books in the series.  I've seen on your website that you are hoping to publish more - what does that look like right now?
The publisher still wants to see book 1-3 build in sales before they commit to more. They took on a lot, publishing three books in one year. In the meantime, to feed the frenzy of my River Tribe who have already read books 1-3, I'm releasing a couple of e-novellas, the first called BOURNE, and hopefully available on Kindle by Feb 1, and Nook and other formats as soon as possible afterward.

When you started to write Waterfall, did you have the whole trilogy planned out (for the most part), or did ideas keep surprising you along the way?  Or both?
I only knew where Gabi would end up and why. Everything else was a surprise. :-)

If you were a young woman set in the world of Waterfall, Cascade, and Torrent, and had to pick between Marcello, Luca, or Greco - who would you choose?
Marcello. But I love Luca's sense of humor (I always fall for the funny sidekick) and I want to help Lord Greco through all his angst...

What should we, your very very very excited readers, look for from you next?
I'm writing a New Adult series called the Grand Tour (Glamorous Illusions comes out June 2012) and one way or another, I'll write a couple more in the River series!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Readers can find me on Facebook (River of Time Series and Lisa Tawn Bergren), Twitter (@LisaTBergren). I'd love to chat!

  2. My husband and i ended up being quite ecstatic when Raymond managed to deal with his web research with the ideas he was given through your blog. It is now and again perplexing to just choose to be giving away methods that some others may have been selling. And we also see we need the writer to give thanks to because of that. Most of the explanations you made, the straightforward web site menu, the relationships you can assist to promote - it's got most awesome, and it's really letting our son and our family reckon that this situation is fun, which is certainly wonderfully essential. Thanks for all the pieces!
